FACT ABOUT BLOOD SISTERS THAT YOU DID NOT KNOW
Even after the deed is done, getting to the root of the matter is always hard. Here at Afromnia, we’re looking at some facts about Ebonylife’s Blood Sister. Let’s get the ball rolling.
1. In the final cut of "Blood Sisters", Ini Dima-Okojie plays the role of Sarah while Nancy Isime plays the role of Kemi. But initially, they both auditioned for each other’s roles.
2. Ini had earlier auditioned for Timeyin, Kemi and Sara before she was later chosen for Sarah.
3. Ramsey Noah’s character had more dialogue in the original script. But director Biyi Bamidele made him speak less.
4. Gabriel was originally meant to play the journalist but the person meant to play the character, Femi Ademola, pulled out for personal reasons. So, the switch became easier.
5. Blood Sisters was an in-house family idea affair. The idea actually came from Temidayo Abudu, Mo Abudu’s daughter.
6. In one of Blood Sister's most theatrical scenes, we see a batcher in Makoko get razed to the ground. That wasn't CGI ( Computer Generate Image) they actually burnt it down.
7. The cast, Sarah and Kemi played by Ini-Dima Okojie and Nancy Isime did all their own driving and their own stunts with the help of an experienced coordinator. Ramsey Noah (Uncle B ) and Deyemi Okanlawon (Kola ) also participated in their own stuntwork, although all the actors had stunt doubles to support them.
8. One of the directors flew from New York on another movie that was later postponed. Biyi Bandele, the director of Half of A Yellow Sun was in writing fellowship in New York when he was invited for the unnamed movie that Netflix eventually postponed.
9. Blood sisters’ story was developed around 2018 and 2019.
10. Genoveva Umeh was a student at Ebonylife Creative Academy when the second director, Kenneth Gyang (director for Oloture), invited her to the role of Timeyin.
